Alkestie Skarlatou – Senior Designer
M. Arch.  MSc. & Ph.D Light & Lighting, Associate IALD

Alkestie’s original background and experience is in architecture. She is a qualified architect and has been a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE) since 2011 and the ARB since 2016. She holds a Master’s degree and a Ph.D in Light and Lighting from the Bartlett School of Architecture. Alkestie’s Ph.D thesis was a detailed investigation into designers’ perceptions of light and space in architecture and an empirical study of how this is applied by practitioners in contemporary architectural lighting design. She has presented her work at numerous professional conferences and has received scholarships, grants and awards from IKY, UCL, PLDA, ILE and TEE towards research/ excellence in architectural lighting studies.

Alkestie has a 15 years experience as a lighting designer and has worked on numerous projects both in the UK and internationally across various sectors including commercial offices, prime residential projects, boutique and luxury hotels and urban lighting schemes. Some of her most notable projects include the Knightsbridge Estate façade illumination, Skype Offices London, Google Offices, London, Sloane Street Masterplanning, Crossrail C100 generic station lighting design and the Embassy Gardens Residents’ Lounge, Pool & Spa. Alkestie is an IALD Associate member since 2012.
