Bolshevik Factory, Moscow, Russia

For this contemporary commercial redevelopment of the historic Bolshevik Candy Factory in Moscow, GIA Equation were the lighting designers for the external building facades, landscape, shell and core areas, atria and typical office floors. The office spaces boast exceptional views over Moscow City and beyond. The 50,000 sq.m. scheme which has a retained historic entrance features 17 historical buildings including listed buildings dating from 1884 which were the first buildings in Moscow to boast electric light, as well as a new art gallery housing the client's collection of Russian Impressionist art. The scheme is an important symbol of adaptive re-use, transforming the area of industrial heritage into a dynamic, mix-use commercial hub.
